19th Istanbul Pride Walk- 26 June/ Cihangir

This recording reflects the sonic experience of an individual walking amongst the crowd in Cihangir during the 19th Istanbul Pride Parade on 26 June 2021. Therefore, while listening to the recording it is crucial to remember that this recording illuminates an individual body's position and movement in the space, as well as the limitations, thresholds, and variations in their relationship with other bodies in the same environment, each with their own unique listening experience.

Even though the sound marks of police brutality such as rubber bullets and pepper spray are inaudible in this recording, it is important to bear in mind that the bodies of the march, either simultaneously or at different time periods, experienced and recorded those sounds in their sonic/body memory. Like any body, forms of listening are also unique!
